Why Coir Pith?
The world is now more cautious about preserving nature and opt for environment friendly products. The realization that peat moss (dug from the swampy area) is very harmful to the environment has gained popularity of coir pith in Europe and USA as an eco-friendly natural alternative to other soil conditioners.
Coir Pith, once considered as a pollutant material thrown away by the public and industry, has emerged to be an excellent moisture retainer and soil conditioner and finds extensive applications in horticulture. It is indeed a gift from nature for achieving a greener environment.
Improving Rural / Local Economy
The Indian coconut industry is traditional and forms a major segment of village and small industries sector. This labor intensive industry plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of millions of rural population in the country by providing employment to the economically weaker sections of the society. Alam Cocos provides free accommodation, electricity, water and food allowance for our employees and their family.
Making Earth a Better Place
Coir pith is the most sustainable growing medium and there is no match. Through our growers (customers, in other word) who use coir pith as their raw material for the cultivation of vegetables, soft fruits, flowers and plants, we make the world a better place. Coco substrates has much lower CO2 emissions and an eco-friendly alternative for peat moss which damages the soil irreparably.
We manage the end to end process of the entire production through state-of-the-art machineries that are integrated with innovative technologies. Our technologies are unique and helps in the automation of dependency processes as well as in collecting, measuring, analyzing and optimizing required data continuously.
Our monsoon rains are abundant and helps wash the coco pith naturally. On the other hand, we are also gifted with hot and long summer that helps coco pith get dried naturally without the need for heating.
How we Mitigate Pollution?
Coir pith is easily blown by wind due to it’s light weight nature thereby causing air pollution. The processing of coir pith requires extensive washing with water to reduce the salt concentration. The run-off from these process will contain high levels of sodium and potassium which if unprocessed may pollute the ground water. Alam Cocos has mitigated these pollution problems through the below means:
Sustainable Cultivation
Vegetables
Soft Fruits
Plants & Flowers
