Production Cycle
We manage the end to end process of the entire production that crafts the nature’s raw material, coconut husks, into our exceptional products. All our products are delivered from our own manufacturing facility. There is no middle men in any of the processes. Here’s a few steps of our production process that should give a glimpse of what’s happening.
01
Coconut Husks
Coconut Husk is the raw material of the business and they are procured in tons of volume everyday through our own plantations, other cultivators, and coconut traders. They are checked for quality and stocked in our warehouse for processing. We have the capacity to store millions of husks and keeping enough stock has never been an issue.
02
Husk Feeder
Our husk bunker is designed to hold 40,000+ husks and the machines are controlled via automation which makes the entire feeding process seamless. While the typical feeding process requires frequent loading, manual effort and supervision in controlling the flow, the mechanism that Alam Cocos built is unique, successful and setting an example in the industry.
03
Crushing & Screening
Coconut Husks from the bunker are fed into special purpose machines (disintegrator and decorticator) that breaks down the husks into pieces and strips off the pith from the fiber. All the machines, screeners and conveyors are inter-connected and their dependencies are controlled through automation. Any overload in one part of the unit temporarily pauses the dependent processes and resumes automatically when the load becomes normal.
04
Pith & Fiber Extraction
The traditional method of processing husks involves plenty of watering before feeding them into the processing machines as well as repeating the entire process to get fine grained pith. Our machines are developed with quintessential parts that doesn’t need watering husks or reprocessing. The outlet conveyors of these processing machines are then filtered at two levels of screeners that separates coco pith and coco fiber.
05
Washing Yard
The unprocessed coco pith is transported to our washing yard which is constructed with cement flooring surrounded by walls of ten feet height. To reduce the default salt contents of the coco pith, we use fresh ground water and also blessed with seasonal monsoon rains. This process is continued over multiple weeks to reach the desired EC and pH values.
06
Drying Yard
Our drying yards, where washed pith is naturally sun dried, spans across five acres of land with cement flooring. Our tractors are fitted with coco pith spreader attachment that helps to dry the pith quickly. The dried pith is then collected and transported to the pith block unit and stored in the pith bunker.
07
Pure Pith Extraction
The dried and low EC achieved coco pith from the bunker is filtered through two-levels of mesh sieving and destoner machine that removes the sand, seeds and other foreign materials present. The pure coconut pith is then transferred into a hydraulic machine that compresses the dried pith into 5 kg blocks or 650 gm briquettes depending on the specification. The blocks can also be mixed with cut fiber and husk chips for varied uses.
08
Packaging & Shipping
The compressed pith blocks enable the export of large volume of coco pith. We also have the facility to compress them into grow bags for direct use by large-scale growers. The blocks, briquettes and grow bags are packed in hygienic pallets for transportation. The containers travel directly from our facilities by road and sea to reach our customers across the world.
Our production capacity is 250 MT per month. Our facility and infrastructure is built with scalability and growth in mind, and hence any increase in the demand can be achieved in quick turnaround.
09
Traceability
Through our ERP software access, our customers would have the traceability of the products in various stages – production, quality, packaging and shipment.
Customer satisfaction is our motto, and we will always deliver our products on-time, anywhere in the world, as agreed in the order. Our production strategy results in production process and supply to continue throughout the year, even during the rainy season.
